If the only areas of Spain you’ve visited are the crowded beach resorts. crammed with people and apartments, then you haven’t seen Spain.

This area is part of real Spain; the immediate area is part of the Subbetica National Park and stretches for 160,000 hectares. This is an area enhanced by nature with an abundance of parks and natural areas. Its walks, archaeological sites and historical monuments are all very popular with residents and visitors alike.

There are many interesting historical towns and villages scattered throughout the area. Iznajar (photo on Home Page) is nestled in the hills of the Andalucian countryside and sports one of the oldest Moorish castles in the region as well as an ancient church. With its tranquil narrow streets and traditional tapas bars it’s a way of life to be embraced and enjoyed.


Rute, a town in the south of the Cordoba province on the edge of both the Subbetica National  Park and the Lake of Iznajar, lives with the hills on it's shoulders and a sea of olives at it's feet. A beautiful town that welcomes visitors with the aromas of its anisette and the taste of it's Christmas delicacies. One hour from the four provincial capitals of Andalucia, Malaga, Jaen Cordoba, and Granada and one and a half hours from Seville and the Sierra Nevada's


The Lake of Andalucia stretches out for over 20 miles.  The area offers an abundance of paths and tracks to explore with breathtaking views everywhere you look or just get away from it all and enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of the area, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.


There is also a beautiful clean beach, which proves very popular in the summer months when a swim can prove not only refreshing but also a welcome break from the midday sun, as does the lakeside bar. For the more enthusiastic there is canoeing, dinghy sailing (including a sailing school) and wind surfing. There are two golf courses within thirty minutes drive and a new course  is being planned in the area.
 

There is an excellent Motorway network close by and Cities within easy reach include:

Cordoba (60 mins) A modern provincial & sophisticated city, well worth visiting for the Mezquita alone.

Granada (60 mins) with the skiing resorts of the Sierra Nevada, excellent shopping and the Alhambra Palace.

Seville (90 mins) Capital of the south, and home of the Flamenco and Bull Fighting and a great nightlife.

Malaga (60mins) visit the beaches of the Costa del Sol, or the Picasso Museum
